Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado It's about courage, caring, hope and healing
Established in 1993, Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado is a community-based non-profit organization offering comprehensive hospice and palliative care services to individuals throughout Mesa, Delta, Montrose, and Ouray counties. The organization's mission and vision are focused on comfort, choice, and dignity for those living with a serious illness, as well as compassionate support for their families, caregivers, and friends.
The Hospice team cares for patients at home, in nursing homes, assisted living centers or the hospital. Since opening its doors, Hospice has catered to the growth of Western Colorado. The first employees cared for only 8 patients. Currently, Hospice cares for over 200 patients and over 1000 friends and family members. Hospice is also answering the rapidly increasing needs of the community by developing and building two specialized comprehensive inpatient facilities on the Western Slope - the first of its kind outside the Denver metro area. The new facilities in Grand Junction and Montrose will offer critically ill patients, and their families, a warm, home-like environment that includes the medical equipment and staff needed to provide quality end of life care.
Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado does not make decisions regarding patient admittance based on the ability to pay. Many insurance policies include hospice benefits, but for those who are under-insured or have no insurance, a sliding scale fee schedule for hospice services is available. Through the very generous support of our community and businesses such as RE/MAX 4000, Hospice is able to continue providing our high quality of care, including grief and bereavement services.
The largest fundraiser for Hospice, the Black Tie & Boots Gala, is the first entry into the new year of fundraising events. Hospice is hard at work preparing for the 11th annual Gala on January 21, 2006 at Two Rivers Convention Center.
This great event is not to be missed! Over 650 guests attend the very elegant evening of dinner, dancing, silent auction and mingling with other guests. The Gala is an opportunity for the community to gather and forget about the worries of life while participating in a respectable cause. This exciting, formal affaire is made possible with scores of volunteers donating their time and energy to make it the most memorable event of the year. As well as the many individuals and businesses stepping forward to Underwrite and Sponsor the evening.
In all the splendor of the event, the reason for the fundraiser remains clear to support the mission and work of Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado. All of the money raised from this evening stays in the communities we serve.
Thank you for helping make this event and so much more possible for Hospice throughout the years! On January 21, 2006 be prepared to step into the grand oasis of Moroccan Nights!
