Gross Metropolitan Product
The Grand Junction Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) has seen significant economic growth in the past two decades. Our Gross Metropolitan Product (GMP), the total value of the goods and services produced in the MSA, increased from $2.3 Billion in 1994 to $4.8 Billion in 2004. According to Global Insight, that growth, 7.7% per year, was the 9th highest rate of growth in the nation.
Income and Wages
From 1994-2005, the average wage for reporting businesses and organizations (those paying into the unemployment insurance system) has increased at an average annual rate of 3.2%, from $21,725 to $30,871. Per capita personal income, the value of incomes earned divided by the county's population, increased at an average rate of 4% from 1990-2004, from $15,444 to $27,400.
Home Prices
Home prices in our community have risen 43% between 2001 and 2005, an average annual increase of approximately ten percent (10%). The median 2005 price, $174,900, better represents what the typical buyer of a three-bedroom home can expect; the average price, $201,793 is skewed due to the sale of a number of very large, expensive homes.
